we're never going home

The zinnias on the deck started blooming this past week. The first morning glory bud opened today into a perfect blue circle. Morning glory is poisonous to horses so I spent my youth ripping out any of the tell-tale heart-shaped leaves I found around my house. I never even knew what the flowers looked like until a few years ago. These flowers are my pride and joy; I grew them all from seeds on my very own deck.

I'm worried I'll miss a lot of flower action while I'm in Chicago this week.

Also, my hair looks like this now. Whew.

Out from my window across from the city
I have what's considered a good view
Two blocks from the subway, three from the fountain
Where I walk to break in new shoes
